Adriana Puglisi | Proprietor
Adriana is Lou's wife, and that means she is the Grape Queen here at Pondview. The wide range of things she does, from paying bills to sitting in on marketing meetings, are almost totally "behind the scenes", yet vitally important to the health of the winery. However, she also helps out on the retail side of the business, because she loves connecting with PondView customers; it gives her insight into how she can make merchandising improvements.
- The best parts of PondView Estate are the boutique and wrap-around patio. It’s a great place to share our wines with our guests.
I started in the wine industry after teaching business in secondary school for 22 years. While I was teaching, I was also the bookkeeper at Puglisi Farms, and was taking wine courses at Niagara College.
Choosing just one favorite PondView wine is hard. I’d say that my favourite white is our barrel-fermented, barrel-aged Chardonnay. When I feel like a red, I look for our Cabernet Sauvignon.
Our patio is a great place to share our wines with our guests. I love sharing our passion for Ontario wine, and the connections we form with guests. After all, what could be better than sitting out on the patio of a Niagara winery on a sunny day with a glass of wine and a cheese or antipasto platter?
If I had to recommend just one wine, it would be our award-winning 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s an elegant wine with balanced tannins that allows the dark berry fruit and cocoa flavours to rush forward.
And I’d serve it for a romantic meal, or even a dinner party. It goes best with a prime rib roast or steak on the grill, but it also works wonderfully with any pasta dish with a peppery, meaty tomato sauce.
