Ontario wineries cheesed about reform delay; Ontario winemakers concerned they will likely have to wait longer to get their VQA wines into supermarkets. Marcel spoke with The Star's Lisa Wright about the development.
It is difficult for Ontario's smaller wineries to compete with the big wine producers who have "grandfathered" licences for specialty Wine Rack and Wine Shoppe outlets. Due to international trade challenges, it will likely be 2016 before reforms are in place to allow more Ontario VQA wines into grocery stores, and that delay is "disappointing," says Marcel.
“Unfortunately it looks like beer is getting a head start in grocery stores,” Marcel says.
